Sometimes you find yourself face-to-face with situations so awful that you can't help but laugh. It's like your brain tries to make sense of the sheer magnitude of unadulterated absurdity and just throws its hands up, opting for laughter as a coping mechanism.
But then, here you suddenly become aware that it's not really funny. It's just plain bad. And the laughter you felt morphs into a sigh.
Ultimately, you are left with a sense of utter perplexity. You start ruminating about the meaning of it all. Was this a joke?
Or were we just living in a simulation gone wrong?

The tsunami struck suddenly, ravaging entire villages in its sweep. Buildings crumbled like fragile toys, and the roar that erupted was deafening. Thousands were buried beneath rubble, their fate uncertain. The severity of the disaster was unprecedented, rendering survivors to face a future forever changed.

Awful Day Ever
It all started with an case of bedhead hair. I couldn't do it to look decent. As I was dashing out the door, I trippedon and spilled all over the floor. To make matters worse, I was completely late for a very important appointment.

It all started out badly with a simple mishap/incident/screw-up. But then it went from bad to absolutely terrible. A series/chain/cascade of unfortunate/awful/disastrous events unfolded/occurred/piled on top each other, leaving me feeling like I was in a nightmare/horror movie/comedy of errors. It's the kind of situation where you just want to run away and hide.
